On Friday, MTV Base’s panel sat down to carefully scrutinize and select the top 20 hottest Naija tracks of 2018. 182 Bag First Class As OAU Holds 43rd Convocation

About 182 graduates will receive First Class degrees at the 43rd convocation of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, out of 13,492 graduating students. The chairman of the ceremonial committee, Oluseye Bolaji, made the disclosure on Wednesday in Ile-Ife. Mr Bolaji, a professor, said that the convocation would involve graduates of the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 academic sessions. He added that the event would hold between December 11 and 14. Mr Bolaji added that the convocation lecture entitled, “University Education in Nigeria: Revisiting the Ife Dream,” would be delivered by a retired professor of History and Second Republic senator, Banji Akintoye. The committee chairman also said exhibition of research activities carried out in the faculties and units of the university would be unveiled as part of the activities during the convocation. (NAN).

INEC Won’t Escape With Rigging 2019 Elections: Secondus

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Prince Uche Secondus has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, against rigging the 2019 election in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, party, warning that the electoral umpire will not get away with such act. He said INEC successfully rigged the election in favour of the APC in the Ekiti and Osun governorship, saying such is capable of putting the nation in crisis. Secodus said this at the metropolitan square, along Asa dam ilorin venue of the north central campaign train of Atiku/Obi presidential campaign. According to him, “We want to warn INEC about the previous elections; you rigged and escaped like the recent elections in Ekiti and Osun states. In 2019 elections, you cannot escape unless you want to cause crisis in Nigeria. Let us warn Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, if you want to cause crisis in Nigeria, rig the election, if you want peace in Nigeria, the 2019 elections must be free...

Sokoto State Governor , Aminu Tambuwal , on Wednesday said the success of the Peoples Democratic Party ’ s North West rally held in the state on Monday was instilling fear in the minds of his Kaduna State counterpart , Nasir El - Ruffin, and his cohorts. El -Rufai had on Tuesday claimed that the PDP rented people from Niger Republic to attend the rally. But Tambuwal , in a statement by his Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Mobilisation , Akibu Dalhatu , said El -Rufai ’ s claim was “evident of political frightening and an attempt to score cheap political goals .” He said the statement was a proof that the All Progressives Congress and its leadership were shocked by the huge turnout the rally recorded . Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has reacted to the condemnation trailing his comment on the outcome of the 17 Nov. 2018 by-election in the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State. A statement he signed on Wednesday said while it was true that he mentioned the Berlin Wall in his speech at the victory rally in his country home in Oro on Sunday, 18 Nov. 2018, it was “undoubtedly in reference to the stranglehold of the Saraki political dynasty on Kwara politics”. He said: “Not once did I mention the Ilorin Emirate during that speech, and I challenge anyone who has any evidence to the contrary to release such.
